Meet Photographer Debbie Stachkunas

I have spent my adult life in the world of special needs parenting and teaching.  It has been the journey I was meant to travel.  I have treasured the journey. In 2021 we made a decision as a family to adjust our journey to a kinder and slower path. We moved to Colonial Beach and changed the speed and quality of our lives.  The world slowed allowing us to take in the beauty of the world around us. 

 

After moving. my daughter and I began to travel nightly to capture the sunset.  A few times a month we would rise early to catch the sun sneaking up out of the Potomac River. During those travels I began to capture the local wildlife.  Now my daily mediation involves traveling around town to take in whatever the river and skies present for me to capture.

 

I am also a lover of the local music scene.  While enjoying the music of the Northern Neck, I like to capture the vibe of the musicians and the vibe of the crowd.  

 

Currently my work is displayed at the following locations in Colonial Beach:  CB Creative, Colonial Beach Brewing and Pier 909.

 

I am available for typical photo shoots.  My passion is the unique opportunities that our local environment provides.  Capturing pictures of watermen out crabbing.  A family enjoying their day on the water or beach.
